Charlie Stevenson Named Patriots High School Coach of the Week

After leading the Hawks to a 28-7 victory last week on route to a career milestone, head coach Charlie Stevenson of Xaverian Brothers High School has been named this week’s New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week.

Xaverian notched its fourth win of the season in a road matchup at Brockton last weekend, improving to 4-1 overall while already boasting a 1-0 record in the Catholic Conference. With the success, Coach Stevenson earned his 200th career win as a head coach, becoming just the 51st coach to reach the mark in state history. Over the past 25 years, Stevenson's overall 200-61-1 record, nine super bowl trips and seven state titles have gone unmatched.

Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, now the team’s executive director of community affairs, visited the Xaverian players and coaching staff Tuesday afternoon to present the Hawks football program with a $1,000 donation on behalf of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, in honor of Coach Stevenson. The visit and check presentation will be featured on the Patriots weekly television show, “Patriots All Access,” which airs on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV in Boston and will be available immediately after on Patriots.com.

This is the 21st year in which the Patriots join the National Football League in honoring local schools and coaches in the High School Coach of the Week program, which recognizes outstanding performances and promotes a strong foundation for youth football across New England. The 2016 season marks the sixth year Tippett has taken the award on the road to visit the schools that are honored each week as part of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation’s commitment to youth football initiatives.

“We are honored to recognize Coach Stevenson this week as he has reached an incredible career milestone,” Tippett said. “He has compiled a remarkable resume over the years at the head of the Xaverian football program, and with the Hawks already off to an impressive start in 2016, we wish them the best of luck as they contend for yet another title this season.”

At the conclusion of the fall, one of the weekly winners will be named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Year and will receive a $2,000 contribution towards the school’s football program.
