Priorities

The school’s most recent strategic plan, Growing in Harmony, carefully considered the challenges facing Xaverian in the years ahead.
Growing in Harmony articulated a bold vision touching, all areas of school life and prompting the development of a comprehensive campus master plan. This master plan is a crucial guide as we navigate changing demographics in a highly competitive market.

Through Called to Lead: The Campaign for Xaverian, we seek support from alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends to fulfill this plan and make critical investments in our program and facilities, scholarships for financial aid and teaching excellence, and in The Fund for Xaverian.

  • Educating Young Men

    Investing in Programs and Facilities
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, Xaverian is in a position of strength. While honoring tradition, however, we must avoid complacency and be innovative as we meet the needs of a changing student body. This is what drives the campaign’s investments in both Xaverian’s educational program and physical plant.

    Grades 7 and 8
One of the strategic plan’s most exciting initiatives was the call to add grades 7 and 8. Housed on the main school building’s second floor, this program will prepare boys for high school studies within our unique school culture, which emphasizes character and excellence.

    Science Labs
A new academic wing includes new classrooms and science labs, continuing Xaverian’s historic strength in preparing students interested in studying medicine, engineering, science, and technology.

    Scholastic and Wellness Center
The current gym will be transformed into two spaces: a new gym for grades 7 and 8 and an enlarged fitness center. The new Scholastic and Wellness Center adds a three-court gymnasium, expanded locker rooms, and athletic offices—providing practice space for intramural and interscholastic teams as well as large gatherings.

Varsity Stadium and Additional Athletic Fields
Each year, 75 percent of students compete on at least one of Xaverian’s 16 interscholastic teams. The need for outdoor practice areas is urgent. The campaign equips Xaverian with a renovated varsity field with a new track and stadium lights; a new baseball field and combined soccer/lacrosse field; and additional parking.
  • Opening Doors

Investing in Financial Aid and Teaching Excellence
While facilities and programs are investments visible today, Xaverian’s financial aid is about tomorrow. Through the campaign, alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends can strengthen the endowment, assuring Xaverian remains a leader in Catholic education in greater Boston and the nation. Areas targeted for financial aid investment include:

    Scholarships and Financial Aid
Xaverian has always made it a priority to welcome boys from families who cannot afford full tuition. Recent years have seen dramatic increases in requests for financial aid, particularly among middle-income families. To keep Xaverian’s doors open to all capable boys, we must offer more scholarships and financial aid.

    Teaching Excellence
Teachers choose to teach at Xaverian because they believe in the school’s mission. As a school committed to academic excellence, Xaverian must provide competitive salaries to attract and retain these talented educators and commit to ongoing investment in their professional development.
  • The Fund for Xaverian

Investing in The Fund for Xaverian
The Fund for Xaverian, the school’s annual fund, is a critical bridge, filling the gap each year between tuition and the actual cost of educating a Xaverian student. As an annual source of support, the fund helps to finance everything from academic programs to campus ministry, and from extracurricular clubs to athletics.
The fund is where many smaller gifts come together to form the single largest gift the school receives each year. Over the course of the campaign, Xaverian looks to strengthen The Fund for Xaverian, fostering a culture of philanthropy that will sustain the school for years to come.
