Xaverian Brothers welcomes all students of all faith, race and ethnicity. In order to make your experience as positive as possible, we have developed three optional methods to ease assimilation into the Xaverian Community.
STUDENT MENTOR Any student who identifies himself as racially diverse will be paired with a sophomore, junior, or senior who represents a similar racial, and if possible, ethnic background. Any student, white or non-white, who has recently immigrated to the United States or whose family has recently immigrated to the United States will be assigned a student mentor as well. Each mentor will check in with his assigned student on a formal and informal basis to help the freshman student make a successful academic and social transition into the school community. While the student mentor is only assigned to a student for one year, most students maintain close friendships for many years. All student mentors receive appropriate staff supervision.
FACULTY MENTOR Any student who meets the qualifications to receive a student mentor will automatically be assigned a faculty mentor for his entire high school career. The faculty mentor assists students with the academic transition into Xaverian's compeitive environment and encourages students to become involved in our community. Faculty mentors help students become aware of school resources and programs.
DIVERSITY GROUP Any student who meets the qualifications to receive a student mentor will automatically be invited to join the diversity group. This group meets 3-4 times during the year to discuss such topics as prejudice, racism, identity and student culture. Several faculty members who are on the school's diversity committee plan the educational and social agenda of each meeting.
