Campus Minister Bob Gill trains this year's Peer Ministers who will
work with incoming Freshman this year to help introduce them to
the Xaverian community.

of over 200 miles to raise money and awareness to fight cancer.


Director of Guidance, Mr. Tom Gunnoud visited China and was
welcomed by a Chinese placement service that assists Chinese
families looking to place their students in US schools.


Xaverian grad, Dana Barros '85, former NBA All-star and current
coach for the Celtics conducts a skills drill at the Xaverian
Basketball clinic. The clinic was run by XB Coach Dan Salazar.


A group of forty-two Xaverian juniors and seniors went on a spiritual journey
of a lifetime on Xaverian’s Pilgrimage to Italy.
The students visited the four
major basilicas of Rome including Saint Mary Major, St. John Lateran,
St. Peter’s Basilica, and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls.



Xaverian hockey standout Chris Wagner ’09 was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks.

The right winger was drafted as the second pick in the fifth round. Wagner, was

a standout  and lead Xaverian to its first appearance in the Super 8 tournament

Almost 100
Xaverian alumni, students, family, friends and faculty
members attended the first ever Xaverian Outreach Day. The day
was dedicated to providing service to Camp Harbor View. The group
spent the entire day cleaning and painting the camp to get it ready to
serve the over 800 11-14 year olds from Boston's most deprived

Senior Hawk Harrier John Bleday just set a new Xaverian school record
running an incredible 4:10.87 mile. He ran this at the Hartford Public Schools
Meet. He bested Mark Amirault's '06 former school record of 4:13.



Mr. Liam Fitzgerald '75 and his son Matthew '10 celebrate at the senior
breakfast the seniors final day at Xaverian. At the breakfast 15 Xaverian
graduates celebrated their legacy with their sons who were readying to
graduate.

The Senior Gift Committee of Vidur Khatri, Anthony Breen, Eric Gesimondo
and Alex Phelan presented Headmaster Brother Daniel Skala with a gift of
$20,160 a record amount for a senior class.


Next years senior school leaders will be (l to r) Harrison Pidgeon, treasurer;
Alex Kradin, senator; Cory Hodson, secretary; Andrew Griffin, senator; Peter Nevers,
senator; and Brendan Kelly, secretary. Next year's senior class president Alex Cucchi
(missing from photo) was already negotiating for his classmates for looser dress codes,
a shorter school day and cheaper food prices in the cafeteria. Good luck boys!


Captain and goalie Chris Herbert has been a wall for the Hawks this season.
Chris will play for the Delaware Blue Hens and lax powerhouse next season.


Mr. Steve Dacey led a group of eight students on a Global
Encounter to the Badlands of South Dakota to encounter the
effects of reservation life on Native Americans.

Coach Judah Boulet said it was Xaverian's best match ever despite
coming up short against the Prep. XB's Rugby program while only
two years old is considered one of the best in the state.

Hawks took down #1 ranked BC High 3-0 and #4 ranked St. John's Prep
7-4 this week. Seen here is Mike Galvin '11 who threw 5 stellar shutout

Geoffrey Martello '13 celebrates an excellent performance at the
Model United Nations conference held at Lexington High School.

European Free Alliance in the European Parliament.

Dr. Chris Turner '85, Dr. Stephen Traub '86 and John Holliver '75 formed
our health panel at the Xaverian Boston Business Breakfast held
at the Boston College club in the financial district. Almost 100 alumni
came to learn more about our new healthcare bill and its impact.

Senior Brian Patrick O'Connell was the Dean for the Day and provides
the school with direction through his afternoon announcement.
Pat won honor at the Help Haiti night.

Ryan Moore sets a new school record and state powerlifting record.
In the 242 lbs. class he squatted 606 lbs.; benched 374 lbs.; deadlift
633 lbs. for a total of 1615 lbs. at the 2010 Mass High School Power
Lifting Championships hosted by Xaverian.


Mr. Rob Bruckner was a force for the Faculty/Staff team. Here
he is schooling outside the classroom a senior defender. The money
raised in the tournament went to the Hoops for Haiti fund.



Dr. Craig Almedia from Stonehill College discusses the historical, scientific
and ethical issues related to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV);
including why there is no cure for HIV, the effectiveness of available drug treatments,
how the drug cocktail works and who has access to such treatments.



The New Repertory Theater of Watertown treated students to a modern adaptation
of Macbeth. the adaptation featured full Shakespearean dialogue, a simple set
design and an amazing small cast that left students and faculty mesmerized by their performance.


Students in Mr. Puclowski’s Chemsitry class witness first-hand the combustion

of Ethyl Alcohol and Oxygen (and subsequent formation of Carbon Dioxide and

Water), as an exercise to predict and balance products of chemical reactions.

Hockey captains (l to r) Kyle McDonald, Kevin Aufiero and Nate

autographed stick was from the entire team in appreciation for Tom's
stellar play-by-play call of the team's games over the internet.


Michael Varrichione soars over a Medford defender in the Hawks
67-54 win to notch their 8th win just two shy of making the playoffs with

Vidur Khatri speaks in a packed theater recently admitted 8th graders
on Accepted Student Night A-M. Tonight will be the second night (N-Z).
Vidur told the Class of 2014 that his decision to attend Xaverian was the
best decision he could have made.


Dr. Joyce Sackey
mother of Kwaku Acheampong '10 presented in the school
theater: From bugs to boreholes: linking science and service to tackle global
health challenges. Dr. Sackey is the Dean for Multicultural Affairs and Global
Health and Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Superbowl banquet to celebrate Xaverian's 6th Superbowl title.


Ms. Mary Briody's math class uses Geometer's Sketchpad to
draw diagrams on the SMARTBoard and their laptops to test
the similarities of triangles.


Chris Diehl '12 launches his shotput as he and his teammates
train in the cold for the Indoor Track Team. The shotputters
are "performing admirably" according to Varsity Coach Phil Penza.

Mr. Jay McGilvary's English class is podcasting their
poems into iPods in the school theater. The poems can
be compiled into MP3's and shared among the school.


The Xaverian campus is covered in a blanket of snow. Good for
the Alpine Ski Team, not so good for those with
long commutes.

Hawk Squad erupts after a thrilling 21-14 over Brockton
to send Xaverian to the Division 1 Superbowl at Gillette.


Freshman basketball tryouts started Monday. New Varsity
Coach Dan Salazar will have the challenge of figuring out
which frosh can play.


Captain Cam Colwell '10 takes down Prep running back
to help his team go 11-0 on Thanksgiving Day. This is
the first team to go 11-0 in the regular season.


Alec Dubois '12 captured an amazing photo of an X
right before the Hawks scored against Catholic Memorial.
The Hawks won their amazing 10th win in a row to go 10-0.
Their chance to break a school record and go 11-0 will be against
St. John's Prep on Thanksgiving in Danvers. Also up for grabs
will be a Catholic Conference title and playoff birth.



Dean Jim Spillman congratulates senior Rob DiMinico for
winning the Senior Beard Growing Contest while the
contenders look away in disappointment.


Xaverian was graced with the sweet sounds of The Society of
Orpheus and Bacchus,
an a cappella chorus from Yale University.

Dr. Ed Pirozzi, Beardmaster, inspects the seniors for the Xaverian
Beard growing contest. Seniors donated money to Cancer Awareness
to join the contest. Four Hawks were chosen and will be given an
additional week before a champion is crowned.


The Xaverian Cancer Awareness thermometer has been rising
dramatically to heights of $12,000! Already 8 faculty and staff 
have agreed to shave their heads in honor of those who have battled 
cancer. $1,000 more and Mr. Lalli, principal will be joining the

Fact: More than 1 million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in 
in the U.S. this year. Happily Mr. Gill and Brendan Murphy '12
aren't one of them. The Melanoma Foundation of New England ran the

The Hawks were out in full force and united to fight not only St. John's
Shrewsbury but also to fight cancer. To date the school has raised
over $10,000 to fight cancer. All week Xaverian will focus on

The Science Club celebrated Mole Day. A mole 6.02 x 10 23 is
the most famous number used in Chemistry Class. John Hickey ’12
here plays Pin the Tail on the Mole. Other were "Who Wants to be
a Moleionaire?" and enjoying yummy Mole cake. The event was a

Over 300 prospective students and parents attended Xaverian's first
ever Open House for Xaverian's Partnership schools. 7th and 8th
grade students from St. Catherine's of Siena, Norwood, Blessed Sacrament,
St. John the Evangelsit, Canton, Monsignor Haddad Middle School, Needham
and St. Paul School, Wellesley toured Xaverian and met with faculty,
students, parents and alumni to learn more about Xaverian. The general 
Xaverian Open House will take place Sunday 10 am -1 pm.
