The Theology Department takes its discipline seriously as an academic component of the students’ education. In our commitment to the educational ministry of the Church, we aim not only to teach the content of the Christian faith, but, in collaboration with Campus Ministry, to engage students in a life of communion with God and with others.

All XBHS students, regardless of religious affiliation, take four full years of Theology. We invite and encourage students from Protestant Christian traditions and non-Christian religions to learn about Roman Catholic Theology while sharing their own religious beliefs and experiences.

All freshman and sophomore Theology classes are taught at the accelerated level. In this way, we can prepare each student for upper level Theology courses, whether he is familiar with Catholicism, practicing another religion, or practicing no religion. As students enter into their junior and senior years, they may qualify for the more in-depth honors level classes.

The Campus Ministry and Theology Departments work collaboratively to help a Xaverian Student become:

·        an active citizen who is globally conscious

·        a person of informed, claimed faith who is practicing his religion

·        tolerant and respectful of other's opinions

·        able to make mature and informed moral decisions

·        willing to be of service to others and to promote justice

·        prayerful

·        knowledgeable of Catholic doctrines and social teachings

·        scripturally and religiously literate

·        a discerning, critical thinker

·        ecumenically sensitive

·        a person who loves God, others, and self
