  • Brother Daniel Skala, C.F.X., Headmaster

    Brother Daniel E. Skala, C.F.X., Ph.D. became the fifth headmaster of Xaverian Brothers High School in 1991. Brother Daniel holds a Ph.D. from Boston College in Educational Leadership. He also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English.

    As a member of the Xaverian Brothers Congregation, he has served the Brothers in leadership and is currently a Councillor in General Administration. He has also held a variety of teaching and administrative positions at the high school and college level for the past 30 years. He serves on several boards including Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Lowell Catholic High School. He has served on both the Strategic Planning Committee for the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools Initiative and the Executive Committee for Secondary Schools of the National Catholic Education Association. Brother Daniel has made several presentations on institutional strategic planning, issues related to mission advancement, and has lectured on the future of Catholic education.

    His tenure at Xaverian is marked by exceptional innovation, achievement, and growth. As Headmaster, Brother Daniel has been committed to excellence in all area of school life with a renowned emphasis on Xaverian's unique mission, rooted in the tradition of the Congregation of the Xaverian Brothers. Major construction and renovation of facilities as well as investments in the school's academic, athletic, fine and performing arts, campus ministry programs, and Francis Xavier Division for seventh and eighth grade students have helped Xaverian earn a reputation as a premier Catholic school for boys.
  • Dr. Jacob Conca '94, Principal

    Dr. Conca, a 1994 graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School, was a member of the National Honor Society, football, swimming, and track teams. After graduating from Amherst College, he received his M.Ed. from Providence College, and his Ph.D. from Boston College.

    His teaching and coaching experience includes middle school and high school. Dr. Conca’s strong academic background, his administrative experience as Dean of Students at Xaverian from 2003-2007, as Principal of St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury since 2007, and his understanding and support for Xaverian’s unique mission make him well-suited to hold the position of principal.

    Dr. Conca currently resides in Grafton with his wife and their three daughters.

  • Mr. Stephen Dacey '95, Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning

    Mr. Stephen Dacey '95 joined Xaverian in the 2003-2004 school year as a science teacher. After six years as Assistant Principal for Grades 11 and 12, Mr. Dacey became the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning in 2017.
    Responsible for fostering a dynamic teaching and learning environment focused on the classroom and beyond, Mr. Dacey supports faculty and students in a variety of ways, including assessment of data and incorporating teacher and student feedback into Xaverian's instructional approach. He helps to identify effective models to sustain overall academic growth and excellence at Xaverian.
     
    Mr. Dacey holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Secondary Education from Stonehill College. He also holds a Master of Education Degree from Boston College.

    Before Xaverian, Mr. Dacey was a Educator/Resource Specialist for the QSS Group, Inc. a federal aerospace and engineering firm contractor. Mr. Dacey worked with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)'s Goddard Space Flight Center to improve educational use and access of NASA data applications in the classroom.

    Mr. Dacey began his career in education in 1999 teaching College-Preparatory Chemistry, Advanced Biology and Applied Physics to Native American high school students at the Red Cloud Indian School at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Besides his administrative duties at Xaverian, Mr. Dacey is a member of the Science Department where he teaches Biology.
  • Mr. Jay McGilvray, Assistant Principal, Francis Xavier Division Grades 7 & 8

    Mr. Jay McGilvray joined Xaverian in the 2003-2004 school year. He has served as an English teacher, coach, and department chair. He was appointed to Assistant Principal for Grades 7 and 8 (FXD) in May 2013. Mr. McGilvray served as the varsity golf coach for 10 years at Xaverian, the freshman baseball coach for four years, and the Department Chair of the English Department.

    Before joining the faculty at Xaverian, Mr. McGilvray taught middle school in Arlington and Danvers. Mr. McGilvray holds an undergraduate degree from Elon University and a Master of Educational Administration from Boston College.
  • Mr. Christopher Vasta '00, Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12

    Mr. Christopher Vasta '00 is the Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and is currently a candidate for his doctorate (Ed.D.) in curriculum, teaching, learning, and leadership at Northeastern University.  

    Mr. Vasta has served in multiple capacities at Xaverian over the years, including math teacher, football coach, campus minister, and Assistant Principal for Student Life. Mr. Vasta is passionate about his educational ministry, and about the social justice implications of the spiritual and moral development of the young men he serves. He works actively with the Xaverian campus ministry program to organize the Xaverian Pilgrimage to Italy each June, and has been the primary moderator of Xaverian's “Young Men for Change” group, a student-led initiative engaging athletes and other young male students to redefine masculinity and end domestic violence.
     
    In the summer of 2004, Mr. Vasta volunteered with the Order of St. Augustine (Augustinians) in San Gimignano, Italy. Mr. Vasta is happily married to his wife and has three daughters and one son.
     
  • Mr. Michael Vitelli ’92, Assistant Principal for Student Life

    Mr. Michael Vitelli ’92 was appointed Xaverian's Assistant Principal for Student Life in 2017. In this capacity, he oversees all aspects of student well-being, including student discipline, student activities, transportation, work study, and many other areas of student engagement.

    Prior to returning to Xaverian as an administrator, Mr. Vitelli served as Assistant Principal at Norton Middle School, and as a teacher in Norton High School and Robert J. Coehlo Middle School. Mr. Vitelli has a bachelor of liberal arts from Stonehill College and a master's degree in organizational management with an administration license from Endicott College. 

    Mr. Vitelli has coached lacrosse at both King Phillip Regional High School and North Attleboro High School. He resides in North Attleboro with his wife and two children.
