Mr. Michael Nicholson Appointed Principal of Xaverian
Dr. Jacob Conca ’94, Headmaster of Xaverian Brothers High School, has announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Nicholson to the position of Principal.
Mr. Nicholson has served as Assistant Principal for Student Life at Xaverian since July of 2018. According to Dr. Conca, “His vast experience in Xaverian education, his talent as an inspiring leader, and the respect afforded to him by students, parents, and colleagues alike, make him the best possible candidate for the principalship.”
Mr. Nicholson is a graduate of St. Anselm College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theology. He secured his Masters in Religious Education and Catholic School Leadership from Boston College, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University. His calling to Xaverian education began more than a decade ago during his time at Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury, another Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. There he served as a teacher, coach, campus minister, Director of Campus Ministry, and ultimately as Saint John’s Assistant Principal for Student Life. “I had the pleasure of working with Mike at Saint John’s in my nine years as principal there,” said Dr. Conca. “His talent as an exceptional educational leader was apparent then, and he has continued to impress in his work here at Xaverian.”
This is the second administrative change for Xaverian Brothers High School this year. Dr. Conca was recently promoted from Xaverian’s Principal to Headmaster by the Xaverian Brothers High School Board of Trustees. The position was previously held by Brother Daniel Skala, C.F.X., who left the role after 29 years upon his election as the General Superior of the Xaverian Brothers.
“My first priority as Headmaster was securing the right person for the role of principal,” said Dr. Conca. “I assembled a search committee to represent the viewpoints of all stakeholders, and I know I speak for the committee when I say we are confident in the results of the search process. Mike is a humble servant-leader, dedicated to living and sharing the Xaverian values. I look forward to working with him as we continue to honor and serve the mission of Xaverian in order to provide the best possible experience for our students.”

Helping our young men become the people who God has called them to be, motivates me every day,” said Mr. Nicholson. He continued, “There is a rich legacy and a proud tradition at Xaverian. Through the efforts of many over nearly six decades, we are in a wonderful position of strength today. Looking to the future, I feel privileged to help Xaverian honor the traditions of the past, while simultaneously providing a cutting-edge educational experience for our current and future students.”
