Xaverian Club Raises Awareness of Drunk Driving Dangers

Students Against Destructive Decisions took action to send an important message to the community.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk-driving crashes claim more than 10,000 lives each year. That’s nearly 30 lives lost each day. This was the message that 30 Xaverian students visually demonstrated to the community this past week. Doning bright red t-shirts with “I am one” written in bold, black letters, students themselves served as an impactful visual reminder throughout the day.

After school SADD hosted an open meeting for students. They talked about the importance of making safe decisions and stepping in when students see a friend or peer who may not be making one. Participants had the chance to attempt to perform a number of activities using Impaired Goggles, loaned to them by the Westwood Police Department.
