2017 China Trip

This April, 10 Xaverian students took the opportunity to make an adventurous journey to China.

It was an eye-opening and transforming experience for the students and chaperones alike, allowing the group to witness how modern and prosperous China has become. Despite the long flight to the other side of the world, they enjoyed every aspect of the trip. They watched two world-class acrobatic and kung fu performances, climbed the Great Wall, visited the site of the Terracotta Warriors, practiced Taiji with a master, tasted authentic Chinese delicacies with chopsticks, and toured many other remarkable places.

The students also appreciated various educational opportunities. In addition to visiting a local high school, they watched (and tasted!) how authentic Sweet and Sour Chicken is made; they also learned about the art of Beijing Opera mask-making and even had an opportunity to try their hand at drawing their own masks. Some participants were even able to use their Chinese language abilities to bargain at tourist markets to save some bucks!

The next China trip will be held in the spring of 2019. The application process will start in May, 2018. Please contact Ms. Chiu with questions, at lchiu@xbhs.com.
