Xaverian Announces the New Director of Athletics

Ted Currle Makes the Move from Norton Public Schools to Leading the Hawks.

Brother Daniel Skala, C.F.X., Headmaster, and Jacob Conca ’94, Ph.D., Principal, are proud to announce that Edward (Ted) Currle has been appointed as Director of Athletics at Xaverian Brothers High School. Ted comes to Xaverian from Norton Public Schools, where he has served as the Athletic Director since 2013. He brings a wealth of experience to the table, from competing as a high school and collegiate athlete himself, to coaching, teaching, and leading the athletic department at Norton Public Schools. He has nearly 15 years of experience as a high school football and baseball coach.

Ted takes the place of longtime Xaverian Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, Charlie Stevenson ’69. According to Brother Dan, “It’s a daunting task to think about replacing Charlie Stevenson, but I’m confident that Ted will enhance our athletic program.”

“It is a great honor to be named Director of Athletics at such a highly respected school and sports program,” says Ted. “Xaverian's reputation has been further enhanced by the commitment, dedication, and leadership of Charlie Stevenson over his many years here as AD and Head Football Coach. I will hit the ground running, with an enthusiasm fueled by the inspiration of his legacy. I look forward to working with such an amazing team of administrators, teachers, coaches, and most importantly, the student-athletes.”

Ted attended The George Washington University where he studied business administration in the field of sports management. He earned an athletic scholarship for baseball and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in 1998-1999. He coached football at Liberty High School in Virginia before making the move to Massachusetts and Norton High School in 2007.

“We are very excited that Ted is joining Xaverian as our Director of Athletics,” says Dr. Conca. “It’s clear that he is a strong and passionate advocate for student-athletes and the role high school athletics plays in our overall educational approach. We trust he will preserve the existing condition of our athletic program, while simultaneously building upon the long history of athletic success at Xaverian Brothers High School.”
