GR 7 Hale Reservation

Dear Grade 7 Parents/Guardians: On Wednesday, October 19, Grade 7 will have a day retreat at the Hale Reservation in Westwood. The Campus Ministry Team and Mr. Steve Steinbergher, FXD Counselor, will facilitate the day with assistance from Grade 7 teachers. The retreat will be packed with activity, including an Olympics competition, group dynamics, small group discussion and prayer. Students will be spend the day in their Hawk to Hawk Mentoring Groups to foster contiued development of relationships. Students are asked to bring a bag lunch. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Buses will depart Xaverian for Hale at 8:30 a.m. and return to school by 1:30 p.m. Due to PSAT/Grade 9 Grandparents Day that day, buses will leave Xaverian at 2:30 p.m. Please note that Hale programs are held rain or shine. To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, your son(s) should be prepared for the conditions. Your son(s) should wear or bring layered clothing. Temperatures change throughout the day and layers allow for highs and lows. Fabrics like fleece or wool are better than cotton in rain and a raincoat or waterproof layer is the best option. Your son should come prepared with sturdy shoes that protect from rocks, roots and thorns. There will be places at Hale to store backpacks. Make sure your son brings a pack with the following: a bag lunch (it will be an active day, so you may want more calories than normal) refillable water bottle sun block bug spray Any medications you might need (epi-pen, inhaler, etc.) In order for your son to participate in this program at Hale Reservation you must complete and sign the Waiver and Release Form. This form can be found in the Xaverian Portal on the Student Life Board under the Resources tab, and will be due to your son’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, October 13. If you have any questions, please contact Assistant Principal for FXD Jay McGilvray. Warm Regards, Colleen G. Casey Director of Communications
