FXD Travels to NYC

Ms. Elizabeth Shatas
This past June the World Languages Department had the pleasure of sponsoring a trip for Grade 8 FXD students to travel to New York City.
Catherine Douglas, Ryan Howard, Jay McGilvray, Elizabeth Shatas and Joshua Tranfaglia accompanied the 47 students who spent three days exploring N.Y.C.  Students visited several art museums including The Hispanic Society of America, The Cloisters, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art  where they took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions of the guides to enhance their experiences.

Students explored the 9/11 Memorial before their quick ascent to the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in NYC,  for a spectacular view.  Students had varied dining experiences from food courts and street carts, to fine dining in the renowned French restaurant, Pigalle,  to an interesting experience of eating at Medieval Times.   Other unforgettable stops on the trip included a visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, NikeTown and the Oculus.  Each student received a group picture taken in Times Square by a professional photographer to remember their travels.
