Xaverian’s Spring Concert Showcases Student Excellence.

On Wednesday, May 6, Xaverian held its spring concert. This event was a beautiful celebration of music, growth, and community. From the first notes of the string ensembles to the final sounds of the concert band, the evening reflected the heart, dedication, and spirit of our student musicians.

The string ensembles, under the direction of Ms. Anastasia Pavloff and Mr. Murray Kidd, P ’22,  opened the program with focus and grace. The grades 7 and 8 orchestras showed wonderful growth, confidence, and teamwork, while the high school string orchestra brought depth and expression to their pieces.

The choral program filled the room with warmth and meaning. The FXD choruses sang with joy, spirit, and sincerity, offering music that connected tradition, history, and community. Schola Cantorum sang with elegance and maturity, and X-Men brought both humor and heart to their performances, reminding us that music can inspire, move, and delight.

The grade 7, 8, concert band, and contemporary ensembles, directed by Dr. Robert Thorp, brought the evening to a powerful close. Graduating senior Marcello Lanci was featured prominently on the timpani in his final performance at XBHS. The first-ever Xaverian chamber music performance featured beautiful artistry from Sebastian Guzman '28 on trumpet and Landon Bourne '28 on piano. The jazz orchestra performed with energy and style, while Dante’s Inferno Contemporary Music Ensemble brought excitement, creativity, and student leadership to the stage, featuring graduating seniors Oliver Williams and Namish Sapru.

More than a concert, this evening was a reminder of what happens when young people commit themselves to something meaningful. Every performance showed truth, simplicity, humility, compassion, and zeal. We are deeply proud of our students, grateful to their directors and accompanists, and thankful for the families and community who support them. This was an inspiring night of music that celebrated not only what our students can do but also who they are becoming, through the living embodiment of our shared charism.
