  • Dr. Jacob Conca '94, Headmaster

    Dr. Conca, a 1994 graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School, was a member of the National Honor Society, football, swimming, and track teams. After graduating from Amherst College, he received his M.Ed. from Providence College, and his Ph.D. from Boston College.

    His teaching and coaching experience includes middle school and high school. Dr. Conca’s strong academic background, his administrative experience as Dean of Students at Xaverian (2003-2007) and as Principal at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury (2007-2016) and at Xaverian (2016-2019), as well as his understanding and support for Xaverian’s unique mission make him well-suited to hold the position of Headmaster.

    Dr. Conca serves on the Board of Trustees at Xavier High School in Connecticut. Xavier is a fellow Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. 

  • Mr. Michael Nicholson, Principal

    Mr. Michael Nicholson was appointed Principal in November 2019, after serving as Xaverian's Assistant Principal for Student Life for a year and a half. He came to Xaverian from Saint John's High School in Shrewsbury, another Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. There, Mike served as a faculty member in the Religious Studies Department, coach, campus minister, Director of Campus Ministry, and ultimately as the Assistant Principal for Student Life. 

    Mr. Nicholson holds a bachelor's degree in Theology from St. Anselm's College and a master's degree in Religious Education and Catholic School Leadership from Boston College. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Creighton University and serves on the Board of Trustees at Saint Bernard School, another Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School that is located in Connecticut. 
  • Mr. Stephen Dacey '95, Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning

    Mr. Stephen Dacey '95 joined Xaverian in the 2003-2004 school year as a science teacher. After six years as Assistant Principal for Grades 11 and 12, Mr. Dacey became the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning in 2017. Responsible for fostering a dynamic teaching and learning environment focused on the classroom and beyond, Mr. Dacey supports faculty and students in a variety of ways, including assessment of data and incorporating teacher and student feedback into Xaverian's instructional approach. He helps to identify effective models to sustain overall academic growth and excellence at Xaverian.
    Mr. Dacey holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Secondary Education from Stonehill College. He also holds a Master of Education Degree from Boston College.

    Before Xaverian, Mr. Dacey was a Educator/Resource Specialist for the QSS Group, Inc. a federal aerospace and engineering firm contractor. Mr. Dacey worked with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)'s Goddard Space Flight Center to improve educational use and access of NASA data applications in the classroom.

    Mr. Dacey began his career in education in 1999 teaching College-Preparatory Chemistry, Advanced Biology and Applied Physics to Native American high school students at the Red Cloud Indian School at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Besides his administrative duties at Xaverian, Mr. Dacey is a member of the Science Department where he teaches Biology.
  • Mr. Jay McGilvray, Assistant Principal, Francis Xavier Division Grades 7 & 8

    Mr. Jay McGilvray joined Xaverian in the 2003-2004 school year. He has served as an English teacher, coach, and department chair. He was appointed to Assistant Principal for Grades 7 and 8 (FXD) in May 2013. Mr. McGilvray served as the varsity golf coach for 10 years at Xaverian, the freshman baseball coach for four years, and the Department Chair of the English Department.

    Before joining the faculty at Xaverian, Mr. McGilvray taught middle school in Arlington and Danvers. Mr. McGilvray holds an undergraduate degree from Elon University and a Master of Educational Administration from Boston College.

    Mr. McGIlvray is presently a doctoral candidate at Creighton University.
  • Mr. Joshua Tranfaglia, Assistant Principal for Student Life

    Mr. Joshua Tranfaglia was appointed Assistant Principal for Student Life in December of 2019. He joined Xaverian as a social studies faculty member in 2014, and from 2014-2019 taught in the Francis Xavier Division (FXD) and coached golf, basketball, and baseball at both the FXD and high school levels. Prior to Xaverian, Mr. Tranfaglia taught social studies and religion at St. Michael School in Fall River.

    Mr. Tranfaglia has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Secondary Education from Providence College. He completed the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers program out of Providence College, which prepares teachers for life in Catholic education. 
  • Mr. Christopher Vasta '00, Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12

    Mr. Christopher Vasta ’00 is the Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12. He holds a bachelor's degree from Merrimack college in Mathematics, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University and is currently a candidate for his doctorate (Ed.D.) in curriculum, teaching, learning, and leadership at Northeastern University.  

    Mr. Vasta has served in multiple capacities at Xaverian over the years, including math teacher, football coach, campus minister, and Assistant Principal for Student Life. Mr. Vasta is passionate about his educational ministry, and about the social justice implications of the spiritual and moral development of the young men he serves. He works actively with the Xaverian campus ministry program to organize the Xaverian Pilgrimage to Italy each June as well as with Xaverian's “Young Men for Change” group, a student-led initiative engaging athletes and other young male students to redefine masculinity and end domestic violence.

    Outside of Xaverian, Mr. Vasta also serves as a member of the Lowell Catholic Board of Trustee's, another Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School, and is the chair of the MIAA sportsmanship committee.
