Two Xaverian Track and Field Coaches Earn Prestigious Statewide Honors

Congratulations to Bill Foley and Steve Steinbergher!

Xaverian Brothers High School is proud to announce major statewide honors for two spring track and field coaching staff. Head Coach William “Bill” Foley was named the Division 1 Boston Globe Spring All-Scholastic Track and Field Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach Steve Steinbergher earned the title of Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association (MSTCA) Spring Assistant Coach of the Year. The dual recognition highlights a milestone for the Xaverian athletic department, underscoring the program's elite standing in Massachusetts high school sports.

Foley has coached Xaverian’s winter and spring track teams since 2017, and stepped into the role of head coach in 2022. “Our goal has always been to develop young men of character first and athletes second,” he said. “Success is a byproduct of something much deeper: a commitment to one another, a willingness to sacrifice for the team, treating competitors with respect, and responding to adversity with resilience."
Bill is quick to credit the people around him, believing the recognition reflects collective efforts of his coaching staff and the dedication of the student athletes they serve. “Such a recognition is a true honor. This is a great validation that the hard work poured into the program by the entire track and field coaching staff has been recognized by others, not just for the results, but on the overall success of the athletes and program as a whole.”

Assistant Coach Steve Steinbergher echoes this same sentiment. He has been coaching cross country and track at Xaverian for more than two decades. "To me, this award is a reflection of the great work from the entire coaching staff and our athletes,” he said. “I’ve been blessed to work with many talented coaches and athletes through the years at Xaverian."

Their recognition follows a highly successful spring season for the Xaverian track and field program, during which they secured a third-place finish at the MIAA Division 1 Championships. “Bill and Steve have built a culture centered on excellence, accountability, and personal growth, inspiring our athletes to achieve success both in competition and in the classroom,” said Ted Currle, Director of Athletics. “We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact they continue to have on our track and field program and the entire Xaverian community.”
