Xaverian is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Matthew Noone as the Hawks’ next Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach. Noone brings a personal love for the game and more than two decades of coaching experience to Xaverian, with prior appointments as Assistant Coach at Nassau Community College and Assistant Coach for Adelphi University from 2000 - 2001.

From 2004 to 2023, Noone served as the founder and Head Coach for the boys’ lacrosse program at Foxboro High School, where he built a consistently competitive program from the ground up, which was rooted in player development and accountability. 

Coach Noone's experience as both a player and coach provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the game and the qualities required for long-term success. His commitment to the sport extends beyond the field as a member of the Board of Directors for Foxboro Youth Lacrosse.

Recognized for his energy, leadership, and dedication to mentorship, Coach Noone has built strong, lasting relationships with his athletes and their families. His coaching philosophy is centered on developing well-rounded student athletes by fostering excellence in athletics, academics, character, and community involvement, preparing them for success both on and off the field. Xaverian Athletic Director, Ted Currle, P ’32 says that philosophy makes Noone a natural fit for the Hawks.

“Coach Noone’s success over more than two decades as a head coach speaks for itself, but what stood out to us most was his understanding that coaching is about much more than wins and losses. He has a proven ability to build relationships, develop student athletes, and create a culture of accountability and excellence,” he said. “Those qualities align extremely well with the mission and values of Xaverian, particularly our commitment to the formation of the whole person. We believe Matt will be an outstanding addition to our community.” 

Drawn to Xaverian’s commitment and balance of faith, academics, and athletics, Coach Noone is eager to contribute to a program that reinforces values like leadership and discipline.

I can’t wait to get started, meet the student athletes, and get to work.”
