Dr. Thomas Smith will join the Xaverian community in the 2025-2026 school year as the Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12.
Dr. Jacob Conca ’94, Head of School, and Dr. Michael Nicholson, P ’29, Principal, are excited to announce that Dr. Thomas Smith will join Xaverian as the school’s Assistant Principal for Academics, Grades 9-12 starting July 1, 2025.
Dr. Smith brings a great deal of experience to the role as he has served for the past 19 years at Boston College High School, including eight years as a teacher in the math department and, most recently, 11 years as the Dean of Teaching and Learning. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Boston College and two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Education in secondary education and mathematics from BC. In addition, he also earned his Doctor of Education in educational leadership from BC.
“With a proven track record as both a teacher and administrator, we are confident that Dr. Smith will make a lasting and positive impact at Xaverian,” says Dr. Conca.
Dr. Smith will replace Ms. Lauren Hill, who is departing Xaverian at the end of the academic year to become the Principal of Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury, a fellow Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School (XBSS). “Ms. Hill is an exceptional colleague and while we are sad to see her depart, her move represents a true homecoming,” says Dr. Conca. In 2014, she began her XBSS career as an English teacher at Saint John’s, and her father and uncle graduated from the school in the 1970s. “Saint John’s holds a special place in her family, and we are excited to see her continue this tradition,” he adds.
“I am honored and excited to be joining the Xaverian Brothers High School community—a place known for its commitment to academic excellence and to forming young men of character who strive to be servant leaders,” says Dr. Smith. “I look forward to walking alongside students, faculty, and families in a shared mission where faith and learning go hand in hand. Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community!”
