Xaverian Brothers High School seniors Colin Clark ’24 (Franklin), Matthew Lopez ’24 (East Walpole), and Kevin Toland ’24 (Canton) have been named Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Over 1.3 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Colin, Matthew and Kevin were three of the 16,000 semifinalists announced this month. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring
In addition, four members of Xaverian’s Class of 2024 have received National Merit® Program commendations for their high scores on the exam. They are part of the top two-thirds of the approximately 34,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT®, and as such received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. These students are as follows:
- Ethan Cross ’24 (Stoughton)
- Paul Fischer ’24 (Canton)
- Brian Ladino ’24 (Dedham)
- Graham Xavier ’24 (Westwood)
