Local Musician Teaches Songwriting Workshop at Xaverian

Lindsey Sampson, lead singer of the band Visiting Wine, worked with students to write and perform their own songs.

On October 12, students had the unique opportunity to take part in a songwriting workshop with local musician, Lindsey Sampson. Lindsey currently works at a large investment company by day and moonlights as the lead singer of the band, Visiting Wine, whose self-titled album has been featured on all major streaming services since July. She also currently holds a T.A. position for a songwriting course offered by a member of the Berklee College faculty.

Lindsey worked with the group to build creative confidence, teaching them tricks and techniques she uses to keep the creative juices flowing, even when she’s feeling particularly stuck. After encouraging them to write every day, collect “song seeds,” and expand their listening, Lindsey had the students write and perform their own songs.

“It was great to see the boys enjoying the creative process of songwriting,” said Mr. Daigle, Xaverian’s Director of Choral and Liturgical Music. “I hope that the boys will take Lindsey’s advice to heart, that waiting until you’re good at something to actually do it is a sure-fire way for it to never happen. Expect to learn, and to grow. It all starts with showing up.”
