Model UN Wraps Up a Successful Season

Xaverian’s Model United Nations club had a busy and rewarding fall.

While attending three conferences in 30 days, students worked hard, debated, resolved world issues, and were recognized and awarded by conference chairs and committee peers. The club kicked off the fall by attending the Twenty-Second Session of the Brown University Simulation of the United Nations Conference from November 9-11. The three days of committee meetings were filled with hard work and various crises that put committees at odds. However, Xaverian students worked past these differences with high school students from across the country and the world to help bring resolutions to the problems at hand. While at the conference, the Xaverian team was happy to see their former teammate, Armaan Dhillon ’18, who is now a freshman at Brown University.

Soon after the conference at Brown, students attended Catholic Memorial’s Model UN Conference; the first high school conference of the year. Students found success and new members were able to find their stride. They arrived at various resolutions with local high school students across the state.

The Model UN club concluded their 2018 season on December 8 by attending St. John’s Prep's Model UN Conference in Danvers, MA. Students were met with challenges in their respective committees, as a small contingent among hundreds of students from various prep and high schools from across the state. Our students stood out and were awarded for their hard work, representation, diplomacy, resolution writing, and ability to lead by example.
