FXD Sports Update 2-26-2021

Welcome back from February break! I hope everyone has had a chance to get recharged and is ready for March! I have to thank all of you for the continued support and cooperation we had from you throughout the year. In the winter season, we were able to complete 20 FXD basketball games, 15 FXD hockey games, 6 swim and dive events, and 3 alpine ski events. All in all, completing 44 events in the height of the pandemic should be considered a success. We had many modifications and policies that were followed. So thank you again, and we look forward to providing another positive experience during the Fall II and Spring seasons.

The Fall II season has begun and we are very excited with the amount of participation at the FXD level. We have 14 FXD students participating in our winter track program. Our head coach is Dave Palmieri (dpalmieri@xbhs.com). If your son is still interested in running, jumping, or throwing with the indoor track program, please contact Coach Palmieri. They are operating by cohort at the sub-varsity level. While remote, the staff will send our student athletes workouts they can complete at home. While in school, the student athletes will have access to the FXD locker room to change in groups of 10. They will not be able to keep items in the lockers due to COVID-19 restrictions. They can drop off their bags in the morning to the locker room so they don’t have to carry them around all day. We hope to have five dual meets during the season. Most of these meets will take place on Friday afternoons. Please have your son pay attention to the portal and his email for any schedule updates.

The FXD football team has 58 student athletes signed up! We are very excited to see such a high level of interest. We normally have two teams and this year with the lack of opponents, we will only have one. Our head coach is Seth Turnbaugh (sturnbaugh@xbhs.com). If your son has not signed up and is still interested, he should contact Coach Turnbaugh. Football players can return to campus for practice if they are remote. They must come dressed and ready for practice. The in-person students will be able to drop equipment off in the morning in the FXD locker room or the indoor concession stand by the varsity gym. They should not leave their equipment in the hallway by the FXD gym and locker room. They will be able to change in groups of 10 and then take their things with them. When we have inclement weather, they will be able to leave their things in the varsity gym spaced out around the edge of the court. We will have as many games as we can find in the eight-week season. The season will conclude the week before April vacation. Most Catholic Conference games will be played on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., whether they are home or away. Please have your son check his email and check the website (www.xbhs.com) for schedule updates.

Spectator policies are being discussed this week by the conference ADs and principals. Once that information is available, we will share it with you. Looking forward to a great Fall II season!
