XAVERIAN ATHLETES COMPETE IN RYAN MOORE MEMORIAL POWERLIFTING EVENT


Hawks finish in second place!

One June 12, the Xaverian powerlifting team competed in the Ryan Moore Memorial Powerlifting Event. Ryan graduated from Xaverian in 2010 and tragically passed away just before the start of his freshman year at Stonehill. The event is held every year in his memory. Mrs. Moore, Ryan's mother came to present the awards to the competitors at the conclusion of the event.
 
Pictured from left to right:
Marty Barnes ’26 - Competed in the JV division and placed first with the following lifts: Squat 110 Kilos, Bench Press 67.5 Kilos, and Dead Lift 130 Kilos. His total for all 3 lifts was 307.5 Kilos or 677 lbs, all of which were state records for his age group and weight class.

Sam Maloof ’21 - Competed in the varsity division and placed first with the following lifts: Squat 210 Kilos, Bench 150 Kilos, and Dead Lift 210 Kilos. His total was 570 Kilos which is 1,256 lbs.
 
Matt Martucci ’22 - Competed in the varsity division and placed second behind Sam with the following lifts: Squat 207.5 Kilos, Bench 127.5 Kilos, and Dead Lift 215 Kilos. His total of 550 Kilos which is 1,212 lbs.

Ian O'Connor ’22 - Competed in the varsity division and placed fourth with the following lifts: Squat 112.5 Kilos, Bench 97.5 Kilos, and Dead Lift 115 Kilos. His total was 325 Kilos or 716.5 lbs.

Not present in picture was Warren Gillis ’23, who competed in the JV division and placed first in the following categories: Squat 127.5 Kilos, Bench 82.5 Kilos, and Dead Lift 167 Kilos, for a total of 375 Kilos or 826 lbs.
