The ULTIMATE Champions!

Xaverian’s ultimate disc team win the state championship

Xaverian’s ultimate disc team came out with spirit and force to win the state championship this year. After a one-month shortened season (due to COVID-19), with a loss to Natick and key wins over BC High, Needham, Sharon, and Medway, Xaverian entered the state playoffs. They settled the score with Natick for the state title, relentlessly chipping away to a 15-13 win. It was truly a team effort, as every player threw and caught at least one goal throughout the ultimate season.

“This team was special,” says Coach Joe Sotelo. “Former players were texting and encouraging this year’s team, even recording video messages of support. Our varsity players, while busy with finals and their own playoff run, made it a point to come and cheer on JV ultimate in their playoffs as well. In practice and in games, the Hawks conducted themselves with honor and good sportsmanship. They recognized in themselves and in each other the value and zeal of playing hard for their brothers, and were committed to helping each other in their team goals.”
