Yale, Bentley, Union, and More...Six Hawks Commit to Continued Play in College

Congratulations to the six Xaverian senior athletes who officially committed on February 7 to continue their athletic career in college.

Xaverian Brothers High School seniors, Ikechukwu "IK" Irabor, Brian Abraham, Domenic DePaoli, Matthew Drouillard, and Brian Fallon have committed to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. Additionally, senior Noah Bell has committed to continue his soccer career at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. In the fall, Owen Langan signed for baseball at Northeastern, and Sean Nizolek committed to play lacrosse at the University of Tampa. Brian Abraham - Yale University
“Brian’s size and range will give him a leg up on his competition at Yale,” says Coach Al Fornaro ’78. “He was a two-year starting corner and safety for the Hawks and defensive MVP of the Catholic Conference. Brian can be physical when needed and can cover even the most speedy receiver, step-for-step.”

Domenic DePaoli - Bentley University
"Domenic started training with us the summer before his freshman year,” said Coach Fornaro. “His gentle demeanor in the school is a stark contrast to the intensity he brings to the field. He was a two-year starter and this past season he graded out as the best offensive lineman each game. His physical strength will be a huge advantage for him at Bentley.”

Matthew Drouillard - Tufts University
“Football smart as well as classroom smart,” is how Coach Fornaro describes Matthew. “He’s a student of the game, and a two-year starter as outside linebacker. He brings very good speed and physicality to the field each and every day, and always came to practice with a smile, attentive to his position coaches. He could carry out each assignment without trouble.”

Ikechukwu "IK” Irabor - Union College
Coach Fornaro calls IK an “explosive athlete, with a 4.5 40-yard dash, a 39” vertical leap, and a 10’3” standing long jump. He was a two-year starter for Xaverian who was always ready to ‘GO’ at game time. He has the ability to run a defender over or just make him miss, as he’s very elusive.”

Brian Fallon - Ithaca College
“Consistency” is the word Coach Fornaro uses when he is talking about Brian's skills. “His placement of kicks was second to none,” says Fornaro. “His expertise allowed us to maintain great field position in most of our games. His cool demeanor has and will aid him in all of the “pressure kicking" situations he will face. Always ready when called upon in all crucial situations, Brian has the ability to stay within himself and block out outside distractions...he has great focus.”

Noah Bell - St. Joseph’s College of Maine
“Noah is a team leader in every sense of the phrase,” said Coach Gary Bowers ’87. “The impact of his work ethic, his intensity, and his execution will stay in this program long after he moves on to the next phase of his education. As a senior captain and a stalwart defender, he has made his mark here and I have a great deal of respect for him and his accomplishments.”
