· We leave on Friday, July 20th and return on Saturday, July 21st.
· Please have your son at Xaverian at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20th. He should have a big breakfast beforehand because we have a long trip up to Maine! The bus ride will take about five hours depending on traffic. Your son should pack a (disposable) bag lunch to enjoy on the bus ride. Please feel free to send snacks and beverage with your son for our boys to share. We will stop at a rest area along the way for a restroom break.
· We will return at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21st. Sorry that we cannot be more precise with a returning time, but arrival is contingent upon what time we’re done rafting and traffic on the return trip. We will update students with an ETA toward the end of the bus ride home, and they will be able to text you.
· The $200 you paid earlier in the year includes transportation, pizza dinner and dessert at Adventure Bound on Friday night, lodging for the night, breakfast in the morning, rafting, and lunch on the river. Your son will need additional money for dinner on the return trip, which will be at one of the food courts along 95 on the way home.
· As far as what your son should bring, please read this pdf provided by Adventure Bound, the company we are rafting with. Along with specifics about what rafters should bring, it includes information about what participants should expect in terms of schedule and outlines rules and guidelines for the camp (this was sent home before the end of the school year): http://www.adv-bound.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/What-to-bring.pdf
Mr. Hodson, Mr. Palmieri, Mr. Gunning, Mr. Shippie, Mr. Brodeur, and Mrs. Bjork will be supervising and are looking forward to a fun trip, but will also be enforcing all of Adventure Bound’s rules, especially the lights out at midnight rule because we will be getting up bright and early on Saturday to hit the rapids!
Please feel free to contact Mrs. Bjork with any questions or concerns at lbjork@xbhs.com or text or call me at 717-572-2897. Also, Mr. Brodeur created a Twitter account so we can update parents with pictures and relevant information. The handle is @hawkswhitewater.
We’re looking forward to a great trip!
