Xaverian Brothers High School is proud to announce William Barnard '16 and Aidan Coia '16 have received the prestigious Cardinal Medeiros Scholarship to Boston University.
The Medeiros Scholarship is a four-year full-tuition award given to graduating seniors from Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston that have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership ability and dedication to community service.
A Norfolk resident, Barnard founded the Radio Club at Xaverian and is the Student Council Secretary, Vice President of the Spanish National Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the varsity rugby team.
“It’s a great honor to receive this scholarship,” said Barnard. “I know there is going to be four years of hard work ahead of me at BU, but Xaverian has prepared me. I definitely would not have gotten this without Xaverian.”
Coia, a Mansfield native, is a member of the French and National Honor Society, a Peer Ministry “Big Hawk,” and plays varsity lacrosse.
“I’m very thankful to receive this award. I’d like to thank my parents, teachers and especially my Guidance Counselor Ms. Fitzpatrick,” said Coia. “I’ve been looking at BU for the past few years. It was one of my top choices. I’m ecstatic to spend the next four years there.
Barnard will major in Business and Coia in Biology.
